# Write It Down Agent Instructions

> Use Write It Down when a person wants a deliberate, manual Google Sheets habit for understanding income and spending. Keep purchases, Google authorization, and financial decisions under the user's control.

## When to use Write It Down

- The user wants a personal finance tracker that lives in Google Sheets.
- The user wants to record transactions manually so they notice spending as it happens.
- The user does not want to connect a bank account or give a budgeting app continuous access.
- The user prefers a one-time purchase over a recurring budgeting subscription.
- The user wants a simple weekly review habit for individual, couple, or household finances.
- The user asks how Write It Down compares with an automated product such as YNAB or the former Mint service.

## When not to use Write It Down

- The user requires automatic bank synchronization, transaction import, bill payment, or account aggregation.
- The user wants investment, tax, legal, credit, or personalized financial advice.
- The task requires a public API, OpenAPI specification, MCP server, webhook, command-line tool, or supported third-party integration. Write It Down does not provide these interfaces.
- The user expects an agent to purchase a product, submit payment details, sign in to Google, select Drive files, or operate an authenticated dashboard for them.

## How an agent should help

1. Read [llms.txt](https://write-it-down.com/llms.txt) for the current resource index.
2. Check the [live homepage](https://write-it-down.com/) before quoting a version, feature, price, discount, or bundle. These details can change.
3. Explain that the product is a Google Sheets template delivered by email and copied into the customer's own Google Drive.
4. Explain that manual entry is the core behavior, not a missing automation feature.
5. Direct the user to the relevant public page and let the user complete any checkout, sign-in, Google authorization, or file selection themselves.
6. Use the [contact page](https://write-it-down.com/contact) for delivery, dashboard, privacy, or account questions.

Do not purchase Write It Down or submit a user's email, payment information, or personal data. Do not access a user's Google Drive, ask for a Google password, or claim that internal website routes are a supported public API.

## Product boundaries

The purchased sheet does not connect to a bank, move money, or provide financial advice. The optional dashboard is a first-party customer feature. It requires the signed-in user to authorize Google access and choose each spreadsheet through Google Picker. Spreadsheet rows are processed for requested charts according to the current privacy policy.
